No More Fear: Sedation Dentistry
Somewhere around 75 million Americans live with some degree of fear of the dentist. When people are anxious about visiting the dentist, they avoid it altogether.
Unfortunately, avoiding the dentist’s office can decrease your quality of life and endanger your future. When you avoid the dentist for an extended period of time, the following problems may occur:
- Toothache.
- Large cavities.
- Gum disease.
- Tooth loss.
- Costly procedures in the future.
- Stained teeth.
- Bad breath.
It is important to visit your dentist at least twice a year to keep your teeth clean and your gums healthy.
Here at Cyprus Family Dental in Magna, we will banish any anxiety and fear associated with the dentist by providing you with sedation dentistry. Not only does Dr. Cantwell offer sedation dentistry to his patients, he offers plenty of options so that they can select the sedation dentistry experience that is right for them.
Laughing Gas
You can choose to wear a face mask and breathe laughing gas in and out during your appointment. The harmless gas will relax your mind and body completely while allowing you to remain conscious during your procedure.
You will be able to respond to instructions and questions without feeling anxious or having to remember all of the details of your procedure later. The effects wear off immediately, so it is safe for you to carry on with your day after your appointment.
Oral Conscious Sedation
If you want relaxation at the dentist’s office to be as simple as taking a pill, oral conscious sedation may be for you. Dr. Cantwell can prescribe you an anti anxiety medication and instruct you to take it a short time before your procedure. Like with laughing gas, you will remain conscious, but you will be 100% at ease.
General Anesthesia
We will also be offering our Magna and West Valley patients intravenous general anesthesia. If you would prefer to snooze through your dental experience, talk to our dentist about general anesthesia.
Dr. Cantwell is trained to give you a safe and comfortable dental experience. Give us a call to set up your anxiety-free visit today. Of course, you can also contact us here.
